OUR POSITIVE IMPACT ON… OUR COMMUNITY
Our pro bono work, sponsorships and charitable giving enables us to help and support individuals and organisations with limited access to resources and opportunities. It also means our people can share their experience and expertise in support of causes which can have a positive and lasting impact on our community.
Charitable giving
We support charitable giving by taking the time to participate in events or organise sponsorships. Whatever employees raise is matched by the firm, doubling the scale of our donations each year.
Access2Justice - We are pleased to take part in the charitable fundraising events promoted by Access2Justice, the charity that aims to promote and deliver increased access to justice for those who need it the most and are least able to afford it. In recent years we have participated in the Great Legal Bake, and featured as one of the top ten fundraisers from the London legal industry, as well as the London Legal Walk.
Variety - JHA is a proud supporter of Variety, the Children’s Charity. For the last two years, the firm has been the main sponsor of the annual Gastronomic Evening to raise funds for the charity, which helps to change the lives of children and young people who are sick, disabled or disadvantaged. Since its inception, the event has raised some £1.5 million for Variety.
Supporting the arts
Many of our partners and employees are passionate about art in all its forms. For this reason, we have focused on finding opportunities to support artists and nurture new talent in the art world.
Wade Guyton - JHA supported the Wade Guyton exhibition at the Serpentine Gallery. This New York artist has pioneered a ground-breaking body of work that explores the changing relationships to images and artworks through the use of common digital technologies, such as the desktop computer, scanner, and inkjet printer. Guyton’s exhibition, “Das New Yorker Atelier Abridged”, presented a body of work completed between 2015 and 2017. The title was chosen to reflect the site of both the first installation of the work, in Germany, and its place of production in downtown Manhattan.
Voluntary and pro bono work
Every solicitor and barrister at JHA is given an allowance of 40 hours from their working year to participate in either voluntary or pro bono work. Employees in support functions have the opportunity to devote 20 hours of working time to voluntary work each year.
