Thomas joined JHA in 2016 as an Associate. He is a qualified barrister and solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand and his practice focuses on all forms of dispute resolution. He specialises in complex and high value commercial litigation, public law litigation and international arbitration.

Thomas has a range of disputes experience that includes directors and shareholders disputes, worldwide freezing injunctions, international investment treaty disputes, energy disputes, professional negligence claims and banking disputes. He has also worked on complex and high-profile cases involving public and administrative law, judicial review, human rights, media law, privacy and data protection. His clients include local and off-shore companies, foreign governments and states, financial institutions and high net worth individuals.

Before joining JHA, Thomas was a Judges’ Clerk at the New Zealand High Court. He also practised commercial and public law litigation in private practice and on behalf of the New Zealand Crown. While practising in New Zealand, Thomas was involved in litigation at all levels of the judicial system. He regularly appeared as sole or junior counsel in the District Court, High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.

Thomas has authored several articles for the New Zealand Law Journal.
