PROFILE
Ian joined JHA in 2018 and is a Partner at the firm. He has significant experience in litigation and arbitration, with notable expertise in insolvency litigation and restructurings. He has acted for clients at all levels of the UK courts, both corporates and individuals including debtors, creditors, distressed investors and insolvency practitioners.
Ian’s recent commercial and financial work relates to intellectual property disputes, litigation regarding liabilities on a close-out of a series of swap transactions, disputed joint venture arrangements, and warranty and indemnity claims.
His insolvency litigation expertise includes disputes over valuable real estate assets, bankruptcy, debt enforcement, cross-border coordination of proceedings and schemes of arrangement. He has acted on some of the most high-profile and contentious insolvency matters of recent years, including three of the highest-value bankruptcy proceedings ever filed in the UK, publicly contested voluntary arrangements, and complex administrations. He also acts on large-scale corporate restructurings both in and out of court, providing specific advice on lease obligations, recapitalisation plans, court-based schemes of arrangement, securitised loan arrangements and distressed projects.
He has particular experience acting for clients in the construction and engineering, financial services, real estate, retail and technology, media and telecommunications sectors.
