Sam is a barrister and a senior associate. His practice focuses on commercial litigation and international arbitration, with a particular emphasis on high value, complex and multi-jurisdictional disputes.
His recent matters include:
- Acting for a multinational mining company in a High Court claim arising in relation to a discontinued investigation by the Serious Fraud Office, valued at in excess of USD 240 million.
- Acting for a Swiss company in a VIAC arbitration against an Eastern European state, seeking compensation worth in excess of USD 269 million arising out of the expropriation of mining assets.
- Acting for a confidential client in a multi-billion-dollar family dispute involving serious allegations of fraud, breach of trust, and misappropriation of assets.
- Acting as co-counsel for a Ukrainian national in an LCIA arbitration, defending a contractual claim worth in excess of USD 100 million.
- Acting for two shareholders of an AIM listed company in a High Court claim, seeking replacement share certificates and damages resulting from breaches of the company's Articles of Association.
Before joining JHA&B, Sam worked at a boutique commercial litigation firm in London. Sam completed his pupillage at Selborne Chambers in 2016.
